Nest M20 error

Getting m20 and 298 errors.

have all 5 wires installed.

not sure what else I can do

Hi EEShani, 

 

Thanks for posting here in Community and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let's sort this out. 

 

E298 error means that your Nest Thermostat 2020 is not getting enough power. To troubleshoot, please follow the steps below:

 

  1. Turn off the power to the system at the breaker box again.
  2. Remove the thermostat display.
  3. Remove the wire from the C terminal then tuck in inside the hole on the wall where it won't touch other thermostat wires. 
  4. Reinstall the display and press it until it clicks into place.
  5. Turn the power back on.

 

After that, restart the Nest Thermostat then update the wiring of your Nest Thermostat 2020 via Google Home app. 

 

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Thermostat and then Wiring and then Update wiring.
  4. Update any incorrect wiring information.
