Nest Minimum Voltage requirement

Woody56
Community Member

Can anyone tell me the minimum Voltage(VAC) for the nest thermostat??

I have two...One has 30Vac(Nest measured) and the other has 19Vac(also Nest Measured)

The one with 30Vac is working fine, but the other(19Vac) seems to work fine, but indicates that the voltage is insufficient in the App, but no error on the nest itself.

Thank you

Hey there Woody56,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! If you check out this article on Nest Thermostat compatibility, it states that Google Nest thermostats are designed to work with most 24 V systems, even older systems. They work with all common fuel types including natural gas, oil, and electricity.

30 V would work just fine, while the 19 V may not provide enough power to keep the thermostat's batteries charged.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Thank you for your response. I will monitor the functions of the thermostat and let you know if it is sufficient in my case. In the meantime, I will see about installing the power connector/Adapter.

Thanks again

Hi Edward

Thanks for the help...I think I'm all set now...Going to install a 24 Vac Xformer and an interposing relay...That'll do it.

Thanks
