I have a multistory house in which the temperature in the bedroom is very different from the living room, where I have a Nest (gen 3) thermostat. I would like to install a Nest Temperature Sensor in the bedroom and schedule it to control the temperature at night. During the day, the Nest Thermostat does a good job controlling the temperature in the living room, and I want to keep it controlling the temperature during the day.
If I add a Nest temperature sensor in the bedroom, will I achieve what I want? Some of the information suggests that the Nest Temperature Sensor overrides the sensor in the Nest Thermostat, and I may need two Nest Temperature Sensors, one for the living room and one for the bedroom.
Looking forward to getting clarification on this.
Richard.

Hi rdcmole,
Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you need to know if adding a Nest Sensor will help you control the temperature in your living room and bedroom. I'm happy to assist you!
Yes, that's correct. If you add one Nest Sensor to your living room and another to your bedroom, they will help you control the temperature in those rooms. A temperature sensor can be helpful if you're consistently too cold or too warm in a particular room of your home. A thermostat only measures the temperature in the room where it's installed. It heats or cools your entire home based on that temperature, even if it's different from the rooms where you spend the most time.
If you would like to learn more about how the Nest Sensor works, please visit: Learn about the Nest Temperature Sensor.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
