Nest Thermostat- Compatibility? Wiring photo

By000
Community Member

I bought a nest thermostat and associated accessories.

Before buying, the compatibility tool said the nest thermostat would work. However, when I tried to install it, the google home app now says my wiring is incompatible. Advise needed, thank you in advance.

Post a picture of the Nest backplate with the wires attached so we can check them.

@By000

You are going to need the Nest Power Connector since you have a cooling-only system.

Take a look here.  Nest thermostat compatibility

The compatibility checker also provides this note,

  • Nest thermostats are designed to work without a common ("C") wire in most homes. During installation, a small number of customers may find that the Nest Thermostat does not receive sufficient power. The Nest Power Connector or a C wire may be necessary. See g.co/nest/cwire for details.

He has a basic system and can use the Nest Thermostat which supports his system and uses replaceable batteries.  While having a Common source is better, he does not have to do it.
