Nest Thermostat Compatibility

  1. My existing wiring has a four wire configuration with a RH RC jumper. White is in W green is in G red is in O and blue wire is in Y.

I plugged the corresponding wires in the same configuration on the nest thermostat block, White in W Green in G  Red in O and blue in Y.

The thermostat booted up correctly, however I could only see a heat mode.

this is a normal heating and cooling HVAC unit.

without the C wire and not a heat pump.

am I missing something? Does anyone know the correct configuration for this scenario?

Hello Technoidatx,

Thanks for posting here in the community forum. It sounds like you might be having some questions about how to connect the wiring system in the Nest thermostat. Don’t worry; I’m glad to assist you.

Most of the wiring system seems to be connected properly to the Nest thermostat; however, the red wire should be connected to the terminal RH.
Could you attach a picture of your current wiring system installed on the Nest thermostat to get a better understanding and provide you with better assistance?

Please keep me posted to get more information.
Best regards,
Daniel

Here is a picture of the nest wire block with the wires plugged in. I don’t see an Rh on this wire block.

Hello Technoidatx,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated. I’m happy to assist you with more information to connect the Nest thermostat.

Everything seems to connect fine in the corresponding terminals; however, to be sure that your device is correctly set up, let’s try to explore more troubleshooting steps.

  • Ensure all the wires are connected properly and firmly in all the terminals.
  • Check if the thermostat is detecting your wiring system; on the thermostat go to settings, then equipment, and check if you can see an error message or if the thermostat isn’t detecting a specific wire.

Additional information you can check out this article: Nest thermostat temperature modes, to know how the device works depending on your system type and model.

Let me know how it goes and keep me updated,

Regards,

Daniel

Hey Technoidatx,
Thank you so much for the update. I appreciate you staying informed with me.

In this case, I would like to check if it is the same wiring configuration on your board. Please take a look at your HVAC system where all the wires are connected; let me know if those wires match with the same on the backplate. If you have the possibility, attach a picture to get a better understanding.

Please keep me posted,

Best regards,

Daniel

Thank you for all the suggestions. The thermostat is detecting all the wires. However, the cool mode is not showing only the heat I’ve been able to connect to the Wi-Fi.
