Nest Thermostat Display TOO dim

Hello,

I just installed a plain Jane Nest Thermostat. The least expensive Nest Thermostat model. It is not a learning model and I am not using a hub. I am using Google Home App and Nest App on my Android phone.
I have the Nest integrated with Alexa. It controls heat only and is working fine EXCEPT the display is too dim when there are no lights ON in the room. I have to shine a flashlight on the display in a darn room to get it bright enough to read the screen easily. It is automatically adjusting the display brightness depending on room lighting. I shouldn't have to turn lights on in the room or use a flashlight to see the Nest display. In a dark room, the display is just way too dim.
I want to set the display so it is at max brightness when the display is ON and turn OFF the auto-dimming feature.
I have spent a couple hours reading Google Help pages and see nothing that addresses this on the Nest Tstat. The links to pages that say I can change this in the Nest tstat settings menu, don't exist and the error says this feature may no longer be available on the device. It does not say specifically it can't be adjusted on the Nest.
I can find no setting in the Google Home app or in Settings on the thermostat itself like I see in the Help documents for the Learning Thermostat models.
I shouldn't have to buy a Nest Learning Tstat just to be able to control the display brightness level?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Please ignore the original post. I replaced the Nest thermostat.

I'd like to delete my original post but I can't find a way to do this.
