Nest Thermostat Flashing Green/Orange (existing install)

I've had my Nest Learning Thermostat installed for 2 years. Today it was powering our AC, when suddenly it stopped working and is flashing a orange/green light. The whole OS appears "normal" but neither the heating nor AC start functioning. Nothing I've seen on online forums seem to indicate what might be happening here. Looking for help please! Thank you.

Mine also did the same thing today. I did a reset and manually charged it for a bit and it seems to be working now.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. We're here to help!

To better understand the issue with your Nest thermostat, please provide the following information:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have? (e.g., Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Thermostat E, etc.)
  • Do you still have your previous thermostat with you?
  • Are the breakers all switched on?
  • Have you tried plugging the thermostat into a working outlet?
  • Does the display stay blank after interacting with it?

This information will help us troubleshoot the issue effectively.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
Josh

Here’s what happened. After calling and speaking to somebody from the Google nest support team, They concluded that my device had a battery issue and needed to be replaced. I was outside of the warranty for my original thermostat so I had to go purchase a new one.

The new thermostat that I purchased immediately had the same issue with the blinking lights when I went to install it. That was an electrical issue problem with the device.

The technicians who installed my air conditioning unit. After quick inspection, they realize that one of the overflow drains had Malfunctioned, And automatically triggered power to the thermostat to turn off. The thermostat was not receiving any power, Which resulted in the blinking orange and green lights.

my original thermostat works totally fine, And I will be returning the new one that I purchased.
