Nest Thermostat Support changes

I read about the planned changes to support for earlier Nest Thermostats in the tech press last week. I'm a UK 2nd Gen user, so will be losing functionality later this year with no option to update.

The blog post mentioned that affected users will be emailed, with appropriate incentives for people to move to an alternative (a new Nest Thermostat, if possible, or moving to another platform). I saw some US users on Reddit seemed to get that email the same day. As yet, I haven't gotten anything and I was wondering when it's expected that this will happen?

Related, I'm very disappointed that I found out about this the way I did and a blog post was felt the best way to communicate this - the email should have landed with customers first, imo.

If I should have received that email by now, how do I go about getting it re-sent?

you'd hope that someone from google monitors this forum and will contact you, but i somehow doubt it?

i'm in the same boat as you, 2nd gen UK, but i did get the email. it's nothing to shout about, a link for 50% off a completely different system that will need a tradesman in to rewire the heat link, as far as i know? reviews of the new system seem to suggest it's glitchy?

i know a couple on here are proceeding with it, so hopefully they'll let us know how they find it once it's ben received and set up?

either way we've got until october 25th before it goes dumb.

cheers
