Nest Thermostat Wiring Question

Elynde
Community Member

Original thermostat had G, O, Y, and RC wires coming from the wall, but O has two wires connected to it (five wires from the wall not including the jumper). The system is an electric heat pump/AC combo. Am I supposed to put two wires into the O space on the Nest?

Nevermind. Hired an AC tech. They installed a c wire and changed a setting inside the Nest thermostat to acknowledge the heat pump. It is working now.

Post a picture of the original thermostat's wiring here.

Please forgive the horrible mess back there. The place was infested when we bought it and, although we have won the battle, we still find evidence of the past in undisturbed places (like behind the faceplate of an ancient thermostat)
