Nest Thermostat gen 3 won't connect to WiFi

Tom_J

I installed a new Nest thermostat about 6 months ago. In the last 2 days it has stopped connecting to WiFi. My other Nest thermostat works just fine, has done for years.

I have tried all the recommended steps in the various guides and posts:

Restarted the Nest thermostat - no change

Reset the WiFi settings on the Nest thermostat  - no change

Rebooted my WiFi router  - no change

Moved and reoriented my WiFi router  - no change

Tried connecting to a hotspot, running on my Pixel phone right next to the Nest thermostat  - no change.

The Nest thermostat is unable to find any WiFi network, even though my router is barely 1.5m from the thermostat. Nothing has worked, and I have no control over hot water or heating in that part of my house.

In doing all these tests, I have noticed that the thermostat interface appears to be lagging occasionally. It is showing version 5.9.5-2.

This unit was purchased in the UK. How do I get a replacement for something that is clearly not working?

I live in the U.S. and have several Nest Stats (Gen 3) in my home (s) and in one of them, it won't see the Wi-Fi (even though all my other products/appliances will) I have tried restarting/reconfiguring the Nest Gen 3 stat: but it keeps giving me the message: "Error-nest.com/w5," - so... what can be done...randy w.
