Nest Thermostat

I have programmed my Nest Thermostat for heating.  It doesn't follow the schedule exactly but I'm satisfied with the schedule.  However, my air conditioner also turns on and runs.  How can that happen ?  Why doesn't the OFF work?  I'm trying to think logically, but I just don't know what to do.  I'm in Wisconsin.  It's getting cold.  I don't want air to kick in especially when I've marked it at OFF.  HELP ME, PLEASE

CAB2, this sounds like a miss configured thermostat.  So that I can help you best, please answer a few questions.

What type of HVAC system do you have?

- Heat Pump

- AC with Gas Furnace Heating

- AC with Boiler Heating

Hi folks,

I just wanted to jump in here to check on how could I help.

@CoolingWizard, thank you for your assistance.

@cab2, I'm sorry if you have to go through this. Help's here! Let's take a closer look on why your Google Nest Thermostat is turning on your AC unexpectedly.

A few questions to isolate:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • Are there any error messages? If so, what are they exactly?
  • Do you notice any intervals or specific patterns between these strange behaviors?
  • Have you checked the power readouts on the Nest thermostat?
  • What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?

I'll look forward for your response.

Thanks,

Mark
