Hi @Dgioffre,

Sounds like you're having some trouble pairing your Nest thermostat with your iPad and iPhone 15. Let's see what we can do to get you connected.

Before we dive in:

  • What type of device do you have? (Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Thermostat E, etc.)
  • Where are you stuck? Did you start the setup in the Google Home app, or are you facing issues at a particular stage?

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Closer is Better: Move your iPad or iPhone closer to the thermostat during setup (ideally within a few feet). Then, restart both your router or assisting device and your iOS devices. This can sometimes clear up any communication issues.
  2. Battery Check: Nest thermostats rely on batteries for power. Check the battery level in your thermostat settings. It should be at least 3.8 volts for optimal performance.

  3. QR Code or Entry Key: Double-check that you're scanning the correct QR code during setup. You can also try manually entering the entry key if available.

  4. Same Wi-Fi Network: Make sure both your Nest thermostat and your iPad/iPhone 15 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Ensure the network has a strong and stable internet connection.

  5. Bluetooth On, Not Connected: Enable Bluetooth on your iPad/iPhone 15, but don't connect it to any other Bluetooth devices during setup. It should solely be used for pairing with the thermostat.

  6. Cellular Data Off: Turn off cellular data on your iPad/iPhone 15 during setup. This ensures your device prioritizes the Wi-Fi network for communication with the thermostat.

  7. Local Network Access: On your iPad/iPhone 15, go to Settings > Privacy > Local Network. Find the Google Home app or Nest app and make sure "Local Network Access" is turned on. This allows the app to communicate with your Nest thermostat on the same Wi-Fi network.

Factory Reset (Important):

The setup process might differ slightly depending on your specific Nest model. To ensure a clean slate, it's highly recommended to perform a factory reset on your Nest thermostat before we proceed. Remember, a factory reset will erase all your previous settings.

Once you've completed the factory reset, try setting up your Nest thermostat again.

By following these steps and answering the initial questions, we should be able to identify the cause of the pairing issue and get your Nest thermostat working seamlessly with your iPad and iPhone 15. If you're still facing issues after these steps, don't hesitate and let me know for further assistance.

I hope this helps!
Brandon.
