The Google Home App is far inferior to the Nest App. I have 2 homes using the Nest App and have never had an issue, now I have a thermostat that is required to use the Google Home App and I’ve had nothing but problems. The thermostat hasn’t learned anything in a year and it won’t even turn to eco when I leave home despite changing the settings.
I asked to exchange for an older model that uses the nest app, and was denied. Who is making these decisions to change platforms? Just because google created an app doesn’t mean it isn’t better than the previous owners app!

Hi CharlesB1,
Thanks for posting. I understand your frustration with the Google Home app and the issues you've been experiencing with your Nest Thermostat. Google, as the owner of Nest, made the decision to transition from the Nest app to the Google Home app to provide a unified control platform for all their smart home devices. While the intention behind this transition is to streamline the user experience and offer a more integrated ecosystem, it's understandable that it can be challenging when you're accustomed to the previous app and its features.
I understand your preference for the Nest app and your desire to have an older model that uses it. It's unfortunate that your request for an exchange was denied, but it's possible that the availability of older models may be limited due to the transition to the Google Home app. Please be assured that our product team is working non-stop with different partners to bring the best features to our Google Nest devices. We'll take your feedback as an opportunity to learn and to be able to provide a better experience in the future.
Best,
Zoe
