Nest has no heating option

This is a new thermostat. Two wires  (red and white for furnace) wires check ok with voltmeter @26VAC. Cooling is only option - no heating option on app or thermostat. Any ideas?

Hi Mt10,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of your current thermostat's wiring?

Thanks,
Mel

I returned the thermostat. Did not receive any specific advice. With only a simple 2 wire connection (red and white for furnace only) and with the AC voltage checking out, I assume it is a product issue. Gave up.

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. We're sad to see you go, @Mt10. It appears that it's most likely a wiring configuration depending on how you installed the Nest Thermostat; if you only have the heating system but you see a cooling option, you should connect the wire into the heating terminal. If you ever change your mind, we'll be here to help.

Please let us know if you have any further questions; otherwise, we'll close the thread in 24 hours.

Regards,

Mark
