Good evening nest thermostat community I’ve got a barn burner for you all tonight ! Dumb me.. says my wife … I changed password to our WiFi and my thermostat has been going really low and staying on forever so I locked it using a pin and for the life of me .. I can’t remember it … I thought I was doing the right thing deleting it from the google home and nest app but I can’t not reset restart I’ve tried taking the nest apart taking a pic of the QR code again and it will not let me get passed that pin-code that I once thought was the absolute answer to temp fluctuations snd never ending cooling cycles costing me 600$ by the end of the month upstairs alone! I promise to never lock another device unless I use permanent market on my forehead with the code  … someone please help I’m not sure what other options I have??
thanks in advance!

Can only imagine the issues.  In my case it's to the point where what I once loved technology and the advancements; but the stress and underhanded behavior has caused way too much productivity and controls that were not relinquished or authorized.  Pissed to end and no help in sight unfortunately.

Hey Dgsizzle,

I wanted to reach out and see if I can help get your device back up and running properly. Sorry to hear you have such a hard time. If you could please follow the steps below, I would like to ensure you are good to go.

  1. Connect the Nest Thermostat display via USB to a computer.

  2. Verify that the Nest Thermostat mounts (appears as an attached drive icon).
  • If the Nest drive does not mount: Restart the thermostat and the computer.
  • If the Nest drive still won't mount: Connect another device to the cable to see if it appears as an installed device.
  • If it doesn't appear, use a different cable/port/computer.

If the Nest drive is successfully showing up on your computer, can you see a technicalinfo.PLIST file?

Please let me know,

Jake
