Nest not functioning properly

Nest thermostat will not turn the AC automatically on. The thermostat can be set to 77 and it will get up to 80 degrees.  It won't be until someone walks by that the AC will turn on. It's frustrating as it's summer and it get uncomfortable in the house especially at night.

Try turning off Home/Away Assist and/or Presence Sensing.  (The name varies depending on which model and user interface you have.)  It sounds like the Nest's "smart" feature  --  where it adjusts the temperature based on whether it thinks you're home or away  --  isn't working for you.  With that feature turned off, the Nest should behave like a regular programmable thermostat.

Then make sure that you have a schedule set up to your liking  --  even if you want the same temperature all the time, the Nest may have a built-in default schedule.  And make sure that Eco mode is turned off  --  but also set your Eco temperature to something acceptable, in case Eco mode gets turned on.

Thank you! I switched it off right away and it seems to be working just like it used to.
