Nest not responding

Cindyc01234

My Nest thermostat display is on, when I adjust the ring to change the temperature, it says press to change, the thermostat does not respond to the press. I have reset and done a hard reboot. Nothing helps. The only way to adjust the temperature is through the app.

Hey Cindyc01234,

Having your device not respond can be troublesome, sorry to hear this is the case. I would love to help you out and ensure you are good to go. Do you mind me asking if you are running into any error messages? Are you able to use other features on your thermostat? Please let me know, as I want to look closer into this.

Best regards,

Jake

Hello Hilary. I did respond to the email that generated.  But it came back undeliverable.  What actuallyhappeningis that the ring will respond to moving a temp. But when you press to selectit doesn'trespond.  I can only make changes in the app.

Hi Cindy,

The email that you responded to is just a system generated email letting you know that we have responded. Would you mind answering the questions that Jake has asked you so that we may be able to help?

Thanks,

Garrett DS

Yes, what I had said in my last reply was that the only thing I can do with the ring on the Nest is move the temp display, but it will not respond to selecting the temp to make a change.  So no, I cannot use any other features.  I must use the app to make any temp changes.

And no error messages.

Hey Cindyc01234,

Thanks so much for the information.

Can we try to restart the Nest thermostat to see if that fixes the issue?

Here's how:

  1. Press your thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Choose the Settings Nest settings icon icon.
  3. Turn the ring to Reset and then select restart.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
