Nest randomly runs furnace when calling for AC.

I have an issue with my 3rd gen nest learning thermostat and Goodman forced air furnace/ air conditioning system.

My system will randomly turn on the furnace and run flat out. Even when the thermostat is calling for AC. This has happened multiple times and I’ve had the unit serviced and inspected by a reputable HVAC company.

This issue has happened mostly during the summer months, the system will call for cooling and randomly the heat will kick on. This also happened in the winter where the heat came on and ran flat out surpassing the set limit of the thermostat. We came home to a 85 degree house one day because the heat was running nonstop.

Any ideas?

Hello goodmanFurnace,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, do you have a heat pump system? Were you able to check the power reading? Could you please share here the diagnosis of your HVAC technician? So that we could take a closer look at what's happening. Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Emerson
