Nest saying thermostat isn’t compatible after the online checker said it was.

I went through the compatibility checker online before purchasing the Nest Learning thermostat and it said my system was compatible, but as I go to set it up on the app it is saying it isn’t compatible. We have a heat pump. Can anyone tell me how I can make this work?

Hi mfcn,

Thanks for posting on the community.  I've checked the information about your wiring, and it seems compatible. Just avoid adding the black wire if it's connected to the 2-stage wires. That means the black wire is a jumper wire, and the Nest thermostat doesn't need it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Chris
