Nest thermostat - Can't set temp or schedule after migrating to Google Nest app

For years I had been adjusting the Nest thermostat using my android phone. Since migrating to the new Google nest app, only "Home" and "Add Product" appears on the screen. There are no directions to indicate how to adjust the schedule using the app. What's the next step so I can use my phone app to change the temp?

Hey Winonac,

Sorry to hear about what happened and for the delayed response.

Just to confirm, are you signed into your Nest app using the Gmail account where you've migrated your Nest account to? If you're unsure, could you logout of the Nest app then sign back in using the "Sign in with Google" option with your Gmail username and password?

Keep me posted.

Best,

Melba

Google Home would not accept pairing of my Nest device after reading the QR code. " Unable to start device pairing. Configuration not available."

I'm having the same issue, worked great Gor years, now all I have is the home/away and add product. Also, will no longer recognize when my phone is home

Hi Roxired,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with controlling your Nest Thermostat using the app. Based on your description, it looks like the Nest Thermostat is not linked to your app. Could you check the Nest app if you're logged in to the correct account?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Hello EdwardT!

Thanks for your note. I haven't had any success until now. Nine months have passed since I posted my concern to this forum.
On Thanksgiving Day 2022 my clever son was able to pair my phone with Google Nest so now I can control the temp and schedule from my phone.

I hope that you can provide a solution for Roxired so Roxired can use her phone with Nest.

Thanks and peace to you!

Winona

Hi Winona2,

Thanks for the response. I'm glad to hear that you can now control your Nest Thermostat using the app. You can always refer to this link for instructions to add the Nest Thermostat to the Nest app.

Thanks,

Edward

Maybe there was an update recently, and that is why I lost all controls? I didn't have a problem before, bit now I can't make a schedule, change temp from phone and it no longer recognizes when my phone is home. I am using an android, and now the only option I have on the app is home/away, which I have to change manually. I've had the nest for many years with no issue with controlling from my phone.

Hi folks,

@bleujean, I'm sorry to hear that you had to replace your Nest Thermostat. We're sad to see you go. We hope we can make it up to you in the future. Let me know if there's anything else.

@Roxired, There are a lot of possible reasons why your Nest Thermostat isn't appearing in your Nest app. To isolate the issue, please follow the steps on the link that I provided above.

Thanks,

Edward

I never heard back, gave up and switched to an ecobee.  Easy peasy.
