Nest thermostat dead

brinehi

first day this year the heating was really needed and my Heat link died right on cue - just past the 24 month old mark.

It’s definitely getting power, tried resetting holding button for 10 seconds and 20 seconds, powered off for a few mins and back on again and still nothing. Plugged in the USB and light comes on but if I hold reset again it goes off again. Need a replacement pronto somehow

Oh no! Sorry to hear that, @brinehi.

No worries, help's here. Let's see what's going on. Could you tell us what country you're in? Which Nest thermostat are you using (Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E)? Also, Could you tell us please when did the situation start occurring at first and when was the thermostat installed?

Hi DragosC,

I am in Ireland and am using the Learning thermostat. The situation started occurring a week ago, it just died. nothing fixed it and I've had to borrow one from someone in the meantime until I somehow get a replacement. The thermostat was installed in July 2020 and the heat link is not working at all now

Hi @brinehi. Can you let me know the following details in order to create a case for you and document it:

What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
Are there any lights on the Heat Link? Does the boiler activate when calling for heat by pressing the Heat Link's button to activate Manual Mode?
Are you seeing any wiring report or error on the thermostat and/or the app?
Have you had any recent power cuts in your area? If yes, has the power been restored?
Have you recently had service or maintenance on your electrical, plumbing, or heating system?
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps before contacting us?
How many thermostats do you have?

Hi George,

I have the 3rd generation (i think) nest learning thermostat.

No lights whatsoever on the heat link. boiler doesnt activate or do anything. button does nothing.

Thermostat and app just say they cant connect

No recent power cuts nor service or maintenance on anything. The first day it dropped near freezing the nest just died. (not very helpful)

i checked power to the heatlink and there was power. plugged in a usb and a light came on but did nothing. moved the nest close to the heatlink and nothing. the button didn't work at all on the heatlink, tried holding it for 10 and 20 seconds and nothing.

just have 1 thermostat controlling 1 zone and hot water.
