Nest thermostat gave wrong code

BramH

Hi, we're trying to connect our nest thermostat to the app. However, the code that we entered is not valid according to the app. We tried several times but the app kept on rejecting the code. Any suggestion how to solve this problem?

@BramH

Which app are you trying to use to install your thermostat? The Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat get installed in the Google Nest app (and then automatically appear in the Google Home app) while the Nest Thermostat gets installed in the Google Home app and does NOT appear in the Google Nest app.

Hi, it is the nest app. Our thermostat is the learning one.

Hi folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for assisting, Mel.

@BramH, i'm sorry if you have to go through this. We'd like you to have a better experience — let's sort this out.

Going over the steps here might help:

  1. On your thermostat. Go to Settings > Reset > Account Connection > Reset.
    1. This will remove the thermostat from the account and Wi-Fi network.
  2. After rebooting. Reconnect your thermostat to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Once connected. Go to the Nest App option in its settings and generate another code or scan the QR code.
  4. Continue by adding it to the Nest app on your phone.

Please let us know if that works.

Best regards,

Mark

Thank you! But we have done that several times but it didn't work out.

We got an information from the service centre that we have to have the old in-log code from the previous owner (who is sadly passed away already).

We've decided to buy a new thermostat device.

Thank you all for your help.

Best,

Bram
