Hi ahmadg3,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat went stuck on “Continue Setup in the Google Home app." Did you first remove the thermostat from the app before you added it again? Also. kindly check on the following:

  1. Make sure the Nest Thermostat is receiving power. Verify that the wires are securely connected and that the circuit breaker for the HVAC system is not tripped. If you have a C-wire (common wire), ensure it is properly connected. If the thermostat is battery-powered, ensure the batteries have sufficient charge or replace them with fresh ones.
  2. Ensure that the thermostat is connected to Wi-Fi. Go to the Wi-Fi settings on the thermostat and select your network. Enter the correct Wi-Fi password if prompted. If the connection fails, try restarting your router and then reconnecting the thermostat to Wi-Fi.
  3. Follow these steps to set up your Nest Thermostat using the Google Home app:
    • Install the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet.
    • Open the app and sign in with your Google account.
    • Tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
    • Select "Set up device" and choose "Have something already set up?"
    • Search for and select "Nest" from the list of available devices.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

To address the thermostat not detecting your thermostat wires, turn off the power to your thermostat at the breaker box, remove the thermostat display from its base, then disconnect and reconnect each thermostat wire carefully.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe

Hi there,

Follow these:

  1. Check the system power.
    • Make sure the power to the system is on. The power switch is usually in the breaker box, but in some homes, it's like a light switch near the HVAC equipment. There may be a single switch or 2 switches: one for heat and another one for cool. Make sure the power is on for the components, and then check the thermostat.
  2. Check the thermostat wires.
    • Remove the thermostat display.
    • Check all the connectors with wires are down.
      • If they aren’t, reinsert the wires:
        1. Press the connector button, and insert the wire as far as it goes.
        2. If the wire is in correctly, the button stays down when you release it.
      • You might need to strip the wire ends. There should be ⅜ inch (9.5 mm) of straight and corrosion-free copper exposed.
    • Reinstall the thermostat display to its base.
    • Turn the power back on.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Zoe
