I have two Nest thermostats installed in my home. They were installed in July of this year. In the past couple of weeks almost every night around 8:00 or 9:00 pm both our upstairs and downstairs Nest thermostats will lose power and we get an E:298 error. We go through the google troubleshooting steps and nothing works to get power to our thermostats. Another odd thing is that whenever we lose power to our thermostats our dryer stops working. When we get power back to our thermostats the next morning then our dryer will work. When we lose power to our thermostats our dryer is not running. I just happened to turn on the dryer after the thermostats lost power and noticed it did not work. Our washing machine and other appliances aren't affected. I'm going to have an electrician come out but there is a good chance they  won't see the problem because the thermostats lose power at night and come back up in the morning somewhere between 7:00 and 9:00 am. We never had this problem with our previous thermostats. I will attach photos of the error messages, physical wiring and wiring information from the thermostats when the power is down. The picture with a Vin of 33.380V is from when the thermostat has power. Can anyone provide me help to resolve this issue?

Hi Ohudson274,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Google Nest Thermostat. To isolate the issue, could you try reseating your R wire to your Nest Thermostat? Please make sure that you turn off the breakers first before touching the wires to avoid system damage.

Thanks,

Edward
