Hi all. I am considering the purchase of a nest thermostat but firstly I'm confused by the multiplicity of options available such as regular nest/learning nest/nest E etc and I'm getting more confused the more I look at them specifications. Any advice gratefully received - I want something that will save money on my energy bills and be super controllable and versatile, Which system is best? We have an Alexa amazon echo dot and a Eufi doorbell/camera system if this makes any difference?
Secondly and perhaps more importantly I've seen so many cut price deals on Nests lately (no sure which generation of products these offers relate to) but usually these sorts of price slashing offers come just before a product line discontinuation and I'm worried that buying anything now might mean missing out on a potentially much better product coming soon or a withdrawal of support for existing products.
What if anything might be about to change in this market - all/any advice gratefully received?
Thanks guys/girls.

Hello bax,
Basically, you are asking a question of taste.
Technology is advancing so rapidly today that basically everything you buy in the stores is obsolete by the time you get home.
Micro chips are getting faster, more and more is connected to the internet and every electronic device today knows where you are, what you are buying or what you are watching on TV.
To come back to your question:
The equipment you'll maybe buy can help you save energy, no question.
If you buy a NEST, you can still see your door cam or tell the nice lady in your DOT what you want your music to be.
Of course, especially with thermostats, new technology helps save money.
Of course, you should have a programmable thermostat.
But basically, they all do the same thing. They do what you tell them to do.
I can take away the fear of changes in the market:
Rh, W, Y, G, C ect. will still exist after us.
If you want to change, take the product you feel comfortable with.
Nest is a good choice, but not the only product that can meet your expectations.
