Nest thinks heating is on but boiler is off

Nest & boiler are both 5 years old.

In the morning the nest shows as heating, but the boiler is off.
The radiators are warm though so it has been on at some point in the early hours.

If I turn the heating down then up on the nest then the boiler fires up but then switches off very quickly.
Repeating the off/on via nest as few times & then the boiler comes on & works as expected.

Does this sound like a boiler fault or a nest fault, or maybe a wiring issue?

Hi hkymre,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • How is your Nest Thermostat wired?
  • What is the power reading of your Nest Thermostat? You can find this information by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Thanks Edward

It's a Nest 3rd gen - model 3.4

Power values are:-

'battery 3.926V
Vusb 0.02V
vin 10.30 V
lin 200 mA (c)

I've also spoken to the boiler makers tech support & the company that installed the system & they believe the issue is probably with one of the pumps.
