Nest unresponsive. Blank screen.

Nest was installed and seemed to be working.  The furnace was running for a few minutes after install.  The nest was connected to WiFi.  I was using the app to set up schedules and the thermostat shut off.  No touchscreen, no charging lights.  It is completely unresponsive.  I tried replacing the AAA batteries and reconnecting to the base and left it for over an hour with no response.  The app says it's disconnected.  I replaced the it with the old thermostat and that works fine.  Is this a faulty Nest that needs to be exchanged or is there another solution.

  • What type of battery did you use to replace the original?
  • How is your Nest Thermostat wired?

Edward,

I used Energizer AAA batteries to replace the originals.

My thermostat used four wires. C, W, G, and R.
