In my current house I’m using the nest gen 3. In my new house there is a nest gen 2.
I want to use the gen 3 in the new house.
question: is the backplane the same for both versions? In other words, can I keep both backplanes installed as is, or do I need to swap them? Same question applies to the heatlink.
thank you.

Hey @joostiphoontje,
You can tell which one it is by the serial number. If it's a second generation, it's serial number will start with 02, but if it's a 3rd, it's going to start with 09. However, you can also send me a picture with the display and I might be able to tell the difference by looking at it.

No, the back plates are not compatible with each other

How do I determine if this is the 2nd or 3rd gen Nest?
