I've just moved into a new home and the temperature control for the hot water is shockingly bad. It's making me hate my new home because I can't get a decent shower ever. I am desperate for anyone who actually has this device to tell me what I'm doing wrong - I have a heating schedule way above what I can usually tolerate and nothing seems to work!!!! I just want a relatively cold house and the ability to have a boiling hot shower and there doesn't seem to be any amount of trial and error I can do that gets it to work. This is my last ditch attempt before I just get the **bleep** thing uninstalled. Help?

You say your thermostat is a 2nd Generation, are you sure that is correct and not a 3rd Generation?
Are you in the UK/USA?
Can you ulpoad a picture of the display?

I think so? I'm in the UK - there's nowhere in the settings does it have a separate water control so I've assumed it's the Gen2

The reason for asking is the 2nd does not operate water.
The setings might be set for a Combi boiler, and you would not see the water settings.
Do you have a hot water tank in the airing cupboard?
Upload a picture of the Stat, and I will be able to tell you which model you have.

See attached the picture - I've gone in and manually changed the temp on the boiler (there's literally just on/off on the boiler though and then the heat link, but found a Honeywell gauge at the bottom of the tank which I've set up to 80degC instead of 50degC - do you reckon that was it? I've only just changed that over when you mentioned it, hadn't spotted it before. It's more that when the heating is on, the hot water comes out the taps, but when it's not, literally I can't get any hot water from the taps bar tepid, so don't know if the tank is just dissipating heat too quickly and i just need to install some better insulation around the tank?

Looks like you have a 3rd generation thermostat.
The gauge you mention sounds like a tank thermostat, and raising the temp will make a difference, usual setting is around 70 ish. That could make a difference, and also you might find that operates a motorised valve. See how things go from now. You could also check the valve if one is fitted is working.
You will get hot water from the tank as the heating when on, will pump water round the system and through the tank.

Its still just not going above tepid - I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My app doesn't show anything about water control and unless I literally just leave the heat link on all the time, it doesn't get even remotely warm. I feel like this is getting to unhygienic levels? There doesn't seem to be any advice for how you use it to actually get a warm shower 😞

You are focusing on the thermostat, but not on the system.
Have you had anyone to look at the system at all? Do you have a motorised valve in the system, and is that working?
Does the thermostat have an icon for Hot Water? Press the thermostat dial, you should see a water droplet icon.
Do you also have an immesrion heater in the tank, as that will give hot water for a temporary time.

Okay so I did not have the hot water icon at all - I was getting confused by mentions of a boost function. I did a full reinstall and reset last night and on the third try by completely uninstalling and reinstalling I finally managed to get the hot water icon to show up. Seems like maybe there was a glitch when the previous owner had logged out all their information and I had logged mine in? Either way, I now have access to the hot water schedule and controls - before then, I reckon I was just locked out unless I completely bypassed it?

The water icon could have been missing if the previous owner did a reset, and installed as a Combi boiler, yours by the sounds of things is a System Boiler. A System boiler setting will give you the H/W icon, the Combi will not.
