New nest thermostat, no RC connection

Donnie115

I have installed a new mirror type nest thermostat. I have a 24v transformer to compensate for my lack of a C wire, R and W only. I know that I connect one of the transformer wires to the C terminal but this unit has no RC terminal for the other wire as my other nest unit does, Where do I connect the second wire from the tramsformer?????

Hello Donnie115,

I'm glad you've reach out.

An R wire is needed to deliver power to your Nest Thermostat. The Rc wire from your previous thermostat should be connected to the R terminal on your Nest Thermostat. However, there are some circumstances when they may need to connect the Nest Power Connector or a common or C wire to reliably transmit power to the thermostat. 2 wire setup may result in inadequate power.
