No Markings Old Thermostat

My new Nest thermostat is cycleing heat. There were no markings. I HOOKED +24 W and the Zone wire to R.  However, the batteries died.  I received the nest power connector.

I could use a  wiring diagram showing what C, R and W are connected to.
For example, C is -24vac R is zone valve wire, and W is +24vac wire.

Or C is +24vac, W is -24vac and R is Zone Valve

Hi, @Sean69!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm truly sorry to hear that your thermostat's battery died; I understand that a properly functioning thermostat is crucial for controlling the temperature in your home. I appreciate you letting me know that you received a Nest Power Connector. I’m happy to help you!

To provide you with the best assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • What type of thermostat do you have?
  • Is your Nest thermostat already installed?
  • How many thermostats do you have?
  • How many HVAC systems do you have?
  • Do you have a conventional or heat pump system?
    • Conventional System: Typically consists of two pieces of equipment (furnace and AC).
    • Heat Pump: Handles both heating and cooling with a single unit.
  • What's the make and model of your HVAC equipment?
  • After installing the power connector, did you receive any error code?

Additionally, please provide the following information:

  • A picture of your old wiring configuration. This will help me visualize the wire connections.
  • If possible, a picture of your control board. It's usually located near the furnace.
  • A picture of the current wiring configuration on your Nest Thermostat.
  • A picture of the configuration on the Nest or Google Home app.

This information will help me determine if the heating inconvenience is related to the installation or the thermostat itself.

Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Ana
