No cooling only heat air coming out

My thermostat was working fine is summer winter came we atarted using it on heat mode now summer again and when i switch to cool mode it keeps pumping out hot air i tried resetting tk factory settings  and i switched from O to B and turned it back only hot air comes out my tech is saying we meed to change the nest they are not good i dont want to change it i like it how can i fix the issue?
