I would prefer discussing this with someone over the phone in the sake of time and accuracy. Is there a phone number to a live person?
It is 81 degrees inside. I have the thermostat set at 74. It has not dropped at all but did increase by 2 degrees. There is air blowing through the vents, but it is not cool. The outside unit is running and blowing warm air. I have changed from heat-cool mode to just cool mode, but this didn't make a difference.
What could the problem be? Again, I am hoping that you have a customer service number to trouble shoo this right away.
Thank you,
TK

Hi there userbones,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
It sure can be troublesome if your thermostat isn't able to trigger heating when you need it. Let's see what we can do about it.
If you prefer to get one-on-one assistance, you can fill out this form to request a call from one of our specialists, fill it out until you see the Contact options. They'll be happy to help you diagnose the problem and get your heating system back up and running.
The troubleshooting you perform will differ depending on which system your thermostat is controlling. In the meantime, feel free to check out this article about troubleshooting strange cooling or heating behavior.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Angel.

@userbones , can you post the picture you took of your old thermostat before you took it off the wall? I would like to see the wires as they were attached to old thermostat base. What can you tell me about your HVAC system? What type of Heating system do you have? Can you upload a picture of the manufacturer label on the outdoor unit? I would like to know the model number of the outdoor unit.

Thank you for your help. Let me remove the cover and send the photo. I have a Trane and will send that photo as well! Thank you.

I am having this same issue. I got on the community site to see if anyone else knew anything about this and it seems like there are several similar posts within the last few days. Very strange.

I received the call back as requested above but they apparently read an online manual and suggested that I turn off the breaker and disconnect an orange wire that goes to the heat pump to see if corrects the problem. I am apprehensive about this approach especially since this person couldn't tell me why this would have happened or the consequences to my heat pump if I do as he asks.
I still don't have a resolution. I am still researching. I am looking for someone who is familiar with these thermostats. If I learn anything, will post it. Please do the same!
Thanks!

@userbones , the wire attached to the OB terminal is used to activate the reversing valve thus changing the system from Heat to Cool or vice versa. We need to make sure that your Nest is set up properly to work with your heat pump.
heat pumps are manufactured in one of two modes. By default heat pump could be a heater or by default. It could be a air conditioner. This is what the O and the B are about. The nest only needs to know which type you have so it knows either to energize the OB wire in cooling or it has to energize the OB wire and heating.
Do you have access to the air handler unit?

Yes I do. I have had the unit for just under 3 years. I actually have 3 units and 3 of these thermostats. This is the only one malfunctioning.

I am having the same problem. It turns the air on but then woke up and it had switched to heat. I have forced air for heat and worked fine with thermostat all winter. AC worked for the last week and all of a sudden last night is over riding to heat. I finally just turned the thermostat off.
