Not cooling

At first we thought it was our air condition unit and had a technician come out to look at it. He couldn’t find anything wrong, reset our thermostat and then it started working. That only lasted for a few days and we are back to it not cooling. I called nest and went through all this troubleshooting and still not working. She said to buy a new one. But I’m not sure I want too if this is gonna happen again in a few years.
