Plug in c-wire adapter

I have a boiler with a Honeywell aquastat controller. The aquastat does not have a c-wire connector. Can I connect my Nest c-wire connector to the 2 wires (red/RH & white/W1) in the aquastat and the conector's c-wire directly to the c-wire on a 24v plug in adapter?

The guide does not cover an install on a furnace with no c-wire connection. I scheduled a Google Pro but the appt was cancelled at the last minute because there are no Google Pros in my area. I installed one of 3 thermostats w/o a c-wire. It is running but I don't know if it's just running off the batteries and if so, how long it will last.
