Randomly turning off

Doug1E6Fresh

This is the second time in 2 weeks that one of my nests turn off randomly. I notice it when it drops well it’s set point. When I mean it turns off, not that it’s reached temperature or gone into away mode, but that the device is powered up but turned the heat off. I simply turn the setting back to “heat” and everything kicks on. 2 different thermostats two different heating units (old house multiple boilers). Last. Night it brought my house down to 57 before we woke up and checked it to find the issue,  should never drop below 67.

Hi Doug1E6Fresh,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostats are randomly turning off the heat and causing the temperature to drop below the desired set point. Are you located in North America or Europe? What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Is there a set schedule that your thermostat follows? Also, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Maintain consistent power supply to Nest Thermostats by ensuring secure wiring connections, and check battery levels if the thermostats are battery-powered, if necessary.
  2. Ensure that the thermostat settings are double-checked to correctly configure the desired temperature and heating mode, making sure that the thermostat is set to "Heat" mode and set higher than the current room temperature.
  3. To ensure optimal performance and reliability of your Nest Thermostats, ensure they are running on the latest firmware version, which can be accessed via the Nest app, Nest website, or the app store of your phone.
  4. If the issue persists, try performing a factory reset on the Nest Thermostats to reset them to their default settings and potentially resolve any software glitches.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe
