Seasonal Savings

Chapter
Community Member

I am confused by the seasonal savings program and the intelligence of the nest learning system. My house has one thermostat in the main living space. This year, in winter, the thermostat reviewed the heating over 3 weeks and set the seasonal saving level to 13.5 degrees every day. It’s winter. And it meant that the heating never comes on.

surely this is not an intelligent move.

overall. The learning or intelligence should be clever enough to understand that the season should need heat.

Hi Chapter,

Thanks for reaching out. I completely understand your confusion and frustration with the seasonal savings program and the Nest Learning Thermostat. It sounds like the thermostat's decision to set the seasonal saving level to 13.5 degrees every day during the winter is causing a significant inconvenience.

To address this issue, change the temperature with the Nest app or thermostat. Your thermostat will learn from your adjustments and change its behavior. So if Seasonal Savings sets temperatures 1.5°C lower, and you turn the temperature up, Seasonal Savings will know to make more subtle changes next time. You can also edit your thermostat’s temperature schedule for a more permanent change. You can turn off Seasonal Savings as well. Ensuring that the seasonal savings program is correctly configured.

Let us know if you have more questions.

Best regards,
Mark

My thermostat invoked seasonal savings late jan. Its in my vaca home and the stat was in eco. So  then the heat turned on per my schedule, no one home, what a waste. I saw my energy bill and checked via the app, surprised its on, switched back to eco. Saw no STOP BUTTON in history. A week or so later, savings turned off. Checked via the app and heat is on again, Again turned it off.

i never opted in for this “feature”, never want it on again. Need to permenantly disable it, how? With a setting or with a hammer?
