Set Always On Fan

I am trying to set my fan to "Always On" without success. I've gone to settings, fan, drop down "always on" then no matter what you must make a choice of times in order to move on. I set mine to "Always On" 12a-12pm. It didn't work. I have tried every combination of the above and have still not figured it out. Any suggestions?

Hi Tbear,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry that you are having issues with your Nest Thermostat features for fan control. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions

  • What Nest Thermostat model do you have?
  • Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
  • Are you able to share a picture of your wiring?
  • Have you followed any troubleshooting already?
  • What type of system do you have? (Heat Pump or conventional type)

In the meantime, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Basic Checks:

  • Power: Ensure your AC unit is turned on and receiving power. Check the circuit breaker or fuse box to see if a tripped breaker or blown fuse is interrupting power supply.
  • Thermostat: Verify that your thermostat is set to "cool" mode and the desired cooling temperature is lower than the current room temperature. A thermostat set to "heat" or with a temperature set higher than the room temperature won't trigger the AC fan to turn on.
  • Air Filter: A clogged air filter can restrict airflow and put strain on the system, potentially causing the fan to malfunction. Check your air filter and replace it if dirty. Please review this guide for further details related to the Fan control with a Nest thermostat.

However you can check the following article to verify the Fan compatibility with Nest thermostats.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Mario

Nest Model 3, no error messages. All systems have power and are working. Conventional Hvac. All filters are fresh.. You are not giving me the information I requested or I need to get the system to work as I want. What are the steps/settings that I need in order to have the fan operate 24/7/365 ?

Hi Tbear,

Thank you for posting and the information provided.

Currently, for the Nest Learning Thermostat, the option for extended fan usage isn't available. The fan control can be set up manually through the Nest App or Nest Learning thermostat for certain times; however, it might have a limited time of usage. Longer fan usage may help to even out the temperature between rooms in your home; however, the fan can use a lot of energy and increase your electrical bill.

Also, extended fan usage will increase your system's runtime, which may require you to replace the air filter sooner and possible system maintenance due to the increase in fan run.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Byron
