So, Google/Nest is going to screw its most loyal customers?

I received an email today about how Google Nest was killing the functionality of the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Nest Thermostats by disabling any app compatibility they had.  

So, no more adjusting your Nest from your phone or when you're away from your home.  

What they've done is - without any notice to us - is converted them to "dumb" thermostats.  

Why on earth would anyone EVER buy a product from Nest/Google if they can just wake up one morning and disable your thermostat?

The Google Machine is giving a discount on new gen thermostats. My local utility offers a better discount.  Maybe they can google prices or even match the prices. But this is a money grab. Thank you Rick O. You’ll get a better bonus.

It is a complete disgrace from Google, this planned obsolescence should be illegal.
