The heatlink gen.3 is dead, all lights off

Hi everyone, I bought a 3rd gen Nest thermostats from Amazon and installed it in May 2019. Just today I noticed that the heating didn’t switch on for few hours and noticed the H71 error on the thermostats. All lights in the heatlink are dead. The unit came with 2 years warranty so I think I need to purchase a new heatlink unit but from where?

Hey @Koorosh,

Thanks for reaching out. I'll do my best to get this sorted for you as soon as possible.

Here are some helpful troubleshooting steps:

Press the button on the Heat Link and check if you have any lights on it
Check if the circuit breakers and the switches are set to on
Turn them off and then back on
Press on the button again and check for LEDs

Could you also help me with some answers to these questions?

How long has your thermostat been installed for?
Did the issue happen during the installation?
Is there any error on the Nest thermostat display?
Have you had any power cuts recently?
Have you had any work done on your electrical or heating systems recently?
If yes, was the power properly restored at the fuse board after work was done?
How many zones ( thermostats ) are present in the setup?

Regards,
Cristian

Hi there, the unit worked for about 2.5 years. No there was no power outage or reinstallation. Just one morning I noticed that the boiler didn’t switch in for few hours and I saw the error on the screen and that the heat link is dead. All lights off and no matter what I did they never. Same on again. If you check product reviews on Amazon there are number of customers having this problem. It seems that there is a systematic defect with the Nest heatlink that it fails after 18-30 month of operation.

back to your questions:

How long has your thermostat been installed for? 2.5 years
Did the issue happen during the installation? No.
Is there any error on the Nest thermostat display? H71
Have you had any power cuts recently? No
Have you had any work done on your electrical or heating systems recently? No
If yes, was the power properly restored at the fuse board after work was done?
How many zones ( thermostats ) are present in the setup? Only one.
