Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.
I'd like to try a couple of things for us to further assist you. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the Google Home app? By doing so, you'll be prompted to allow some settings before you continue.
You could also go to your iOS settings > screen time > Content & Privacy Restrictions (enter screen time password) > Background App Activities > Allow.
