Thermostat Changes Temperature Setting

michaelzjody
Community Member

I recently went on vacation and set both my thermostats to 50 degrees.  A few days later I checked and one of them was now set at 69 degrees and heating my empty home.  I am so angry at NEST for not helping with this issue.  What is the point of a thermostat that decides this stuff on its own?

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. Do you happen to know if your device has an auto schedule? I found an article with more details on that. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Jake, you could be of help if you would offer some advice...?

Hello michaelzjody,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

A few questions: What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? and is it following any certain set of schedules? I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks for the help here, Jake and Emerson.

Best,

Zoe

Hi Zoe, I have the same question:  WHY does my Nest change temperature on its own.  I have NOTHING set to automatic, I don't use the scheduling, and yet STILL sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own and will change a temperature setting from 64 (night time setting) to 70 in the middle of the night.  WHY?

Hi michaelzjody,

It’s me again. I know it’s been a while, and I’m sorry for the delayed response.

Since Nest Thermostat features vary from one another, I wanted to know what type of Nest Thermostat you have. Is it a mirrored-display Nest Thermostat? Does your Nest Thermostat have a dial that you can turn? Or is it a white plastic-like Nest Thermostat?

I’ll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Zoe

Hi Jake,

Thanks for getting back to me on this.  I do not believe that I have any auto schedule...but how would I check that?  I know I have tried to erase ALL things which do ANYTHING automatic on both my Nest thermostats...still, when I was away for two weeks the temperature settings changed on their own...

Why are you locking it?  Nothing yet has helped?  Why not leave it open so someone might be able to help me with this?
