Thermostat Compatibility

Hey

I have an oil furnace(radiators)with an old thermostat I’m trying to change out. When using the app it says my new nest thermostat isn’t compatible.

There are two incoming LV wires to old thermostat. The old thermostat also has two wires terminated and attached to a block plugged into a receptacle. Does this mean it’s a 120v?

Hi there simonterry86,

Thank you for reaching out to our community!

There are some key factors to consider when ensuring your system works seamlessly with a Nest thermostat.

As you mentioned, Nest thermostats are not compatible with high-voltage systems. While we don't know if your system is high-voltage, the wire labels you described, "LV wires," indicate that your system might not be compatible. Nest thermostats typically require low-voltage wires that carry signals the thermostat can understand. Unfortunately, LV wires suggest a system with different signals than the one the Nest thermostat uses
