Thermostat Gen 3 not showing hot water in home app

I read this blog update with happiness about full support coming to the home app for gen 3 thermostat in the UK inc hot water controls — Blog

But despite mine showing all the controls for hot water in the nest app and on device, in the home app I don’t have any options showing.

Does anyone else have this issue?

My app has suddenly just started to displayed it! No app update today though!

Although you can’t turn off hot water when it’s on a schedule but you could in nest app!

Same here.

Have the Nest Learning Thermostat Generation 3, controlling my hot water and heating. Thermostat is on software version 6.4-8. Works in the nest app just fine still.

My Google home android app is now at 3.41.50.3, updated 15th September 2025. It still has no hot water option.

And so has mine, they must have enabled something in the background.

Hi there,

Thank you for posting in the community! I appreciate you bringing this to our attention regarding the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) hot water controls in the Google Home app. You noted that while all the controls are properly showing in the Nest app and on the device, the Hot water option is currently missing from the Google Home app. I can definitely help you with this!

I'm glad to hear the option is now visible on your end, @andrew12 and @gorch. To ensure a proper resolution for all users, could you confirm if the hot water control feature is now also visible for everyone else on this thread?

If the feature is still missing for anyone, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

My home app still isn’t showing hot water control even though Nest app does. Any ideas. Thanks.

Hi @Luke_M,

Thanks for your post in the community and for the update! I'm sorry to hear that you're still not having the hot water control for your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) even though it appears correctly in the Nest app. No worries, help is here!

To better address this situation, please provide the following information:

  • What is the make and model of your mobile device?
  • What is the mobile device’s operating system?

In the meantime, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Location Services: Check if your phone's Location Services are allowed for the Google Home app.
  • Update software: Ensure you have the latest version of the Google Home app and your mobile device's operating system software.
  • Reinstall app: Try uninstall and then reinstall the Google Home app to force a new configuration and refresh the connection.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Thanks for your help.
iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS26.
I’ve checked all other settings to make sure they are correct and reinstalled the app this morning. Still no joy.

Hot Water schedule is ONLY accessible by drilling down through the Thermostat page through SETTINGS > HOT Water > Schedule. WHO thought of that one? HOT Water Schedule should be up a few levels where it can be accessed through the SCHEDULES button. Whereas the HOT Water button has a BOOST menu, the Heating doesn't! Maybe this is a direct app mirror of the Thermostat menu. It doesn't bode well for useability.

Check you’ve got the latest version of the home app installed if you haven’t already.
