Thermostat Help Needed

I recently got a new IPhone and the thermostat device was no longer on the Home app. I’ve wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out and one site said maybe I should reset to factory default. Now it’s telling me to finish setup on Home App but the thermostat isn’t found. It’s starting to get cold and I don’t know how to fix. Please help.

Hi ABoone,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that when you got a new iPhone, your thermostat was no longer on the Google Home app, and now, after resetting the thermostat, it isn't found during the pairing process. I understand how important it is for you to be comfortable, especially during cold weather. Help’s here!

I also appreciate the workarounds already done. To better investigate the inconvenience, I’d like to ask the following:

  • What is the model of your Nest thermostat? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
  • Did you get an error code during the pairing process?
  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following:

  • Make sure the mobile software version and the Google Home app are up-to-date.
  • Turn on Bluetooth, but make sure it isn't linked to any other Bluetooth devices.
  • Turn off the cellular data in case you have it enabled.
  • For iOS devices with iOS 14 or later, ensure that Local Network Access is enabled for the Google Home app by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
