Thermostat Temperature over 32 degree

Good morning !

We purchased the Nest thermostat.
Having done our research, we noticed that the thermostat could go up to 40 degrees in the adjustments.
However, we cannot set the temperature above 32 degrees. It seems lock at this max temperature.

The thermostat is used for radiant ceilings. It works very well and we wanted to keep it. But for our usefulness, we need to reach 37.5 degree in the room.

Do you have a solution to raise the temperature above 32 degrees?

Thanks in advance !

Hi @Superlishious,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest thermostat doesn't raise the temperature above 32 degrees. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • What is the make and model of your system?
  • What kind of HVAC system do you have?

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

Yes! I am happy to have news from you 🙂

Nest Thermostat SKU: GA01334-ca

the system we use is radiant plates on the ceiling. We heat a yoga slab. the previous system, from Honywell, allowed us to get to 40 degrees.

the studio is also equipped with heaters which are connected to an independent circuit and thermostat. Radiant plates are not our only source of heating.

Hi @Superlishious

Thanks for the follow-up information.

To better assist you, I'd like to ask a couple of questions:

  • Do you have a conventional or a heat pump system?
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of the wiring installation?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

Keep me posted.

Hello Mel !!

I can't share photos with you, the site doesn't give me permission.

the heating system is hotplates, not a heat pump

Yesterday, we spent 4 hours with customer service trying to solve our problem.

We updated our Nest Thermostat to version 1.3-10

The connection is:
left -C -W
right - R

We removed the safety mode (which is used to start the heating when the room temperature drops too low)

We removed the Eco Mode (which is only linked to the temperatures we enter).

We tried to make changes through Google Home, the Nest app, as well as manually.

We came to the conclusion that although on the box, as well as on the internet, it is written that we can adjust the temperature to up to 40 degrees. The thermostat is blocked at 32 degrees. We will try to get a refund for the device.

Unless you have a way to break this limit, I appreciate your time 🙂

Hi @Superlishious

Thanks for the follow-up. I understand how frustrating it can be when your Nest thermostat can't reach the desired temperature as expected.

I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
    • Note: A clogged air filter can cause an HVAC system to not activate.
  • Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
  • Is this the first notable temperature drop of the year in the area?

In the meantime, let's check the following information:

  • Power readings: I would appreciate it if you could share the power readings from your thermostat by going to Settings > Equipment > Power info.

Keep me posted.

Best Regards,

Melany
