Thermostat compatibility

Hi Chadburns76,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. It looks like you have a heat pump system with auxiliary and emergency heat.

Emergency heat and Auxiliary Heat are different types of backup heating and operate differently. Emergency heat must be turned on manually while Nest thermostats can use Auxiliary Heat automatically as needed.

Your system is compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat, since it can accommodate 6-10 wires.

Also, I noticed that you have a jumper wire connected to the RC and R terminal of your thermostat. Nest Thermostats don't use any jumper wires, just connect your power wire (red) either to the RC or RH terminal of the Nest learning Thermostat.

You can visit this support article for more information.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hello. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I'm about to take the install but I think I'll be OK. Thank you for your help and assurance that the thermostat will work with my system.
