Hi,
I currently have a nest thermometer at home. I love it, the tracking is great and remote control is awesome.
I am looking at buying 6 more. I see that parent controls are offered but I was wondering if temperature limits are possible? I still want the actual user to be able to adjust the temperature but within newly defined limits.
This is not a one off request, any short term/long term rental property where the owner pays for the heat/cool would want this. But the key is, the unit needs to still function, just create a max an min that adjustments stop at. You already have fixed max and min values programmed into the software, it's just a matter of making then dynamic and providing the UI for changing this value.

Hello Dabnug,
It's fantastic to hear that you're enjoying your Nest Thermostat! The remote control and tracking features are indeed handy.
As for the temperature limits, the Nest Thermostat does offer a solution for your needs. The Hold Temperature or Lock and Unlock your Nest Thermostat settings can be utilized to set temperature limits, allowing the user to make adjustments within specific boundaries. This feature is not only convenient for individual users but also makes it a practical choice for rental properties where the property owner covers heating and cooling expenses.
To implement this, you can access the settings through the Nest app or Google Home app. There, you can define the desired temperature range, ensuring that adjustments made by users stay within those limits. This ensures efficient energy management while still providing flexibility for comfort.
Feel free to explore the settings, and let us know if you have more questions.
Best regards,
Mark
