Thermostat disappeared on Google Home App now need entry key

I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some solutions to this problem.  I have read through other questions and tried all the suggestions with no success.

We have Nest doorbell and cameras and the Nest Thermostat E

I was able to control the thermostat through my google home app and the cameras through the Nest app.

But last week something went crazy and the thermostat disappeared from Google Home - I was still able to view the cameras on the Nest app.  I have tried adding the product by scanning the back of the thermostat but it tells me that I need to go through google home.  The help menu states to go to the thermostat - click settings and then the nest app.  BUT there is no nest app screen - therefore no entry key.

Any suggestions would be appreciated
