Thermostat factory reset and my thermostat now says continue setup in Google app. I need help

I accidentally reset my thermostat to factory settings and now the thermostat just keeps telling me to continue setup in Google home app. I didn’t install or set this up originally. The thermostat just keeps repeating that message and I can’t make it stop. I am old but I can follow basic directions. Please help also I do have the Google home app on my phone I simply don’t understand what to do.

Did you install this thermostat yourself originally or was it installed by a NestPro technician?

No I had nothing to do with the set up. It was working perfectly except for the thermostat telling me I was offline every day. I was offline a couple of months ago but that was fixed immediately. I was unable to delete the you are offline thing. All of the programs said everything was fine. But then I jumped in and tried to restart the program but instead I reset it to factory settings. Now the thermostat is stuck saying complete this on your Google home app which I can’t figure out how to do. So it is 1’03 degrees. I ordered a Best Buy squad person to come tomorrow. I have to have this restored. It’s going to be hotter tomorrow. Dammit

It sounds like the nest thermostat is a bit confused.  It should direct you to install the Nest app on your phone to complete the setup. If you indeed went into the thermostat and went into SETTINGS then RESET, it will wait for the nest app to take the next steps. If you have the nest app installed, you need to go into the app and delete the thermostat.  Then, start the process of adding a new device, in this case, a thermostat.

Hey folks,

Thanks for helping here, CoolingWizard.

Tinah, sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out. What specific Nest thermostat do you have? If it is the new Nest Thermostat that has a mirrored screen, you need to set it up through the Google Home app. Check this out for the step by step guide: https://bit.ly/3h1iyNw

Let me know how it goes.
